Dear Pastor,
It is our hope and prayer that you had a wonderful Christmas season and a very happy New Year. God is so good to us and we are grateful for all of His blessings.
It is with a sad heart that I write to keep you informed about the lawsuit we (Virginia State Association of FWB and the Virginia Home Mission Board) are involved in due to the horrible accident last year involving our Home Missionary to Roanoke, Brother Roger Bevins. The lawsuit is still being negotiated by our lawyers. In addition we are in a conflict with the Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Company concerning coverage for our State Association and the State Home Mission Board.
We obtained representation in the Civil Law Suit with a $10,000 retainer. That money is being held in trust by our Law Firm. In addition, through your generous gifts, we raised $5,300 during the State Meeting last June. As to date, we have spent $13,763.58. This means that we have spent over $5,000 from the State Treasury that was meant for other purposes. The Treasury is now running dangerously low. Billing from the Law Firm, of course, will continue to accrue until the matter is settled.
Because of this, we are asking you once again to respond in helping us continue our pursuit to be covered by the Insurance Company and be protected from losing perhaps millions of dollars in a settlement, which could affect the State Association for many years. We believe we are making good progress in protecting our interests but we need to be good stewards and ambassadors for God by continuing to pay our attorneys in a timely manner.
Would you and your church consider helping our State Association with a gift to our legal defense fund? If you would, please send your check to our Virginia State Treasurer, Rev Gary Hill at 216 7th Street N. E.Norton,Virginia24273
Your immediate attention to this matter is important and appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help in protecting all of our Churches andMissionChurchesin this very tenuous ordeal. May God help us and you have a great year of seeing souls saved and lives changed because of our submission to the will of God!
May God bless you and your families,
Rev. Paul J. Collins Dr. Bruce Barnes
